What was the Martin/Molloy sketch about translating Baywatch into Russian?

Post by CJ Dennis » Fri Feb 26, 2016 12:06 pm

I know this sketch is on one of the Martin/Molloy albums but I've just had a quick scan through all of them and I didn't find it.

They ring up a Russian lady (I can't remember if she was a translator) à la when they rang up the French teacher at 0:09:10 on Vive la France, the last track on the first CD of The Brown Album. They tell her that Baywatch is being shown on Russian television and that they have been asked to translate the scripts. She says "Oh, no!" They then ask her to translate words such as Speedos, Hasslehoff and numbnuts.

I would be grateful if someone could tell me which track this is on! It's not Russian Made Easy which is about Boris Yeltsin swallowing swizzle-sticks.

It was actually on the Poop Chute album.

Disc 2 - Second Load.
Track 30 - Lollybags.

Thanks a lot ShitScared! (Love the name! "Mick! You're an idiot!")

I remembered the word "Funbags" but that sketch is about Dannii Minogue's "improved breasts". I didn't realise before how many "…bags" tracks were on Poop Chute!

CD 1, #02: Funbags - Dannii Minogue's "improved breasts"
CD 2, #17: Nutbags - Famous people who claim to have seen UFOs
CD 2, #29: Airbags - Comparing Pamela Anderson's breasts with airbags
CD 2, #30: Lollybags - Translating Baywatch into Russian

As well as the following tracks on Eat Your Peas:

CD 2, #21: The Wrath Of Nutbags - Overweight Star Trek fans in uniform
CD 2, #32: Ye Olde Nutbags - Historical figures who did crazy things/had crazy beliefs

Lots of "Bags" being thrown around - so I don't blame you for the confusion! I had to re-listen for it too as I knew that exact reference you were searching for.
Good excuse to dust off the albums :)

I recall that there was a sketch about doing Baywatch with Shakespearian dialogue.

In it, characters had lines like,

"Hark! Do I spy a fair maiden among the swirling oceans?"
