I know this was late show but I feel it was a classic Tony Martin Skit. (Tony Martin was OUR Monty Python!!!!!)

Myself and all of my friends in year 8/9 were massive D-Gen/Lateshow fiends, and here's the story; (We weren't the cool kids, DURRRR haha)

3 times during highschool there was a teacher shortage. And all of us loved Tony's rendition of REM "Stand" and you know what, I started and then 3-4 of us all stood up and sung it word for word. We were the nerdy kids but it didn't matter, even the sporty guys and girls egg'ed us on and they appreciated it even when the teachers came back and tried to stop us!! :D

I no longer know those friends but I still can recite all the words to this day, and I'm saddened that this generation doesn't have that. Yes the Chaser is good sometimes, and when its allowed on (usually employed during elections).

Yes, this was fantastic. Musical question: what song is the bridge ("this has been the dumbest song I've ever heard, and I've heard quite a few")? It's not Stand any more at that point.

The bridge of the song is still REM - Stand, but the reference in the lyric Tony is making is James Reyne - Hammerhead.

Then it'll be REM - Shiny Happy People. https://youtu.be/YYOKMUTTDdA?t=147

Both songs are based on a 4 beats to the bar
