Grahame Bond from Conversations with Richard Fidler



For two years on Australian TV in the mid seventies, Grahame Bond put on a gigantic Victorian frock, a wig and a golden boxing glove, and became Aunty Jack.

Grahame Bond has had a rich and varied life.

He's been an architect, performer, an advertising man and was even a presenter on a lifestyle TV show.

But he's probably still best known for those two years as Aunty Jack - the star of that surreal and outrageous show by the same name he created, which became a cultural phenomenon.

Grahame's memoir is called Jack of All Trades, Mistress of One, published by UNSW Press.

I am, I admit, slightly late to this party (by a paltry 9 years, which is, ironically about 46 years for Poultry),

In the beginning, there was no news, and no news is good news, to, there will be no news from now on.

I am trying to recall the name of the sketch where Bond (as some character or other) was telling a story and every threat turned out to be the bad guy, Boris, in Disguise. IIDK if it was in Neverending Story or what but me and my mates used to kack ourselves watching this sublime pancake of WTFness.

But given the age of these posts, I guess I'll catch ya 'round like a rissole, round like a rissole, goin' round (Eh, eh, Eh Eh, Eh!)

Welcome Nytrydr! The forum is still active, but rarely visited. I also don't know the answer to your question which is of no help. But perhaps if someone checks the active date on the forum they'll visit this page and answer it soon. (Sadly, Baudrillard passed away some years ago.)

I was sure I'd commented on this thread, but I've just been through and it seems I didn't.
My sister and I loved this show, and can still remember it today even though we were young-uns at the time. Never-ending Story is where I learnt the meaning of the word "genre". I think Australia St was my favourite segment though.

Yep, you're right, it was Never-ending Story.
